Suspect Sought After Downtown Business Break-In; MLA Health Update
URGENT UPDATE: The Brandon Police Service is actively searching for a suspect following a break-in at a downtown business on Thursday evening. Police responded to a report at approximately 7:20 p.m. regarding an unknown individual spotted on security footage inside the establishment located in the first block of 10th Street.
Authorities confirmed that officers quickly established a perimeter around the area and conducted an extensive search, utilizing a drone to enhance their efforts. Despite their prompt response, the suspect remains at large. The police are urging anyone with information to contact their non-emergency line at 204-729-2346 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 204-727-TIPS (8477).
In a separate but equally concerning development, the Manitoba NDP caucus revealed that MLA Amanda Lathlin is facing serious health complications. A statement released on Friday morning by NDP caucus chairman Robert Loiselle expressed support for Lathlin as she navigates these challenges. The statement conveyed, “The caucus stands with Amanda and is holding her and her family in our thoughts as she takes the time to deal with these concerns.”
Despite her health issues, Lathlin’s constituency office in The Pas-Kameesack remains operational, with her staff committed to assisting constituents. The public has been asked to respect her privacy during this difficult time.
Both situations underscore the urgent need for community awareness and support. As the police continue their investigation into the break-in, Lathlin’s health status reminds us of the human stories behind public service. Stay tuned for more updates as these stories develop.
