Teen Arrested After Threats to Kingston Religious Institution
BREAKING: A 15-year-old youth from Hamilton has been arrested after making threatening remarks aimed at a religious institution in Kingston. This urgent situation unfolded after Kingston Police were alerted on September 12, 2025, prompting immediate action from law enforcement agencies.
The threats were communicated through an instant messaging platform, targeting a specific but undisclosed religious establishment in Kingston. Given the serious nature of the threats, the RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police were also involved in the response.
On September 16, 2025, Kingston Police tracked the teenager to Hamilton, where they collaborated with the Hamilton Police Service to execute the arrest. The accused was subsequently transported back to Kingston for processing. Following a bail hearing, the youth remains in custody, facing significant charges.
According to police reports, the young offender is charged with one count of uttering a threat (hate motivated) against the Kingston religious institution. Additionally, they face another charge for making threats towards a secondary school in Hamilton, prompting notifications to the Hamilton-Wentworth School Board.
In response to the incident, both the religious institution and the affected school community have been informed and are taking measures to ensure safety. Authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to either community, and no further arrests are expected at this time.
Kingston Police are urging anyone who observes suspicious behavior or has concerns to report them immediately. The swift response to this incident highlights the commitment of local law enforcement to maintain community safety and address potential threats proactively.
