Three Alleged Smugglers Face Bail Hearing After Migrant Arrests

URGENT UPDATE: Three men charged with human smuggling are scheduled for a bail hearing on September 4, 2025, following the alarming discovery of 44 migrants crammed into a cube van in southern Quebec. The accused, identified as Ogulcan Mersin, Dogan Alakus, and Firat Yuksek, faced a judge in Sherbrooke after their arrest near the U.S. border on August 3 at 2:20 a.m.

Authorities say the men are charged with aiding or abetting someone to commit an offense under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
