Thunder Bay Police Hunt for Suspect in Violent Assault on Senior

URGENT UPDATE: Thunder Bay Police are urgently seeking help to identify a “dangerous” suspect involved in a violent assault that left an 85-year-old man in serious condition. This shocking incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Red River Road and Clarkson Street.
Witnesses reported a man fleeing the scene after the assault, prompting a significant police response. Officers from the primary response unit quickly swarmed the area, deploying drones and a canine unit in hopes of locating the suspect. Despite these efforts, authorities were unable to find him.
According to police, the elderly victim was rushed to the hospital where he remains in serious condition. Initially classified as a weapons-related incident, the investigation has now transitioned to the major crime unit of the Thunder Bay Police Service.
In an official statement, police have released photos and video of the suspect, detailing a description that paints a worrying picture. He is described as a white male, standing approximately 5′9” to 5′11”, with a thin build, fair complexion, and shaved brown hair. He has facial hair and may be wearing prescription glasses. At the time of the incident, the suspect was dressed in gray jogging pants, a blue long-sleeve t-shirt, and black socks.
“The male suspect is to be considered dangerous,”
police warned in a press update on Monday. They strongly advise the public not to approach or attempt to detain him.
Authorities urge anyone who spots the suspect to contact 911 immediately with his location. Furthermore, anyone with additional information to assist the investigation is encouraged to call 1-807-684-1200 or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
