Toronto Man, 61, Arrested for Making Death Threats to Muslims
URGENT UPDATE: A 61-year-old Toronto man has been arrested for allegedly making death threats against the Muslim community. Authorities confirm that David Halverson was taken into custody on September 27, 2023, following a police investigation into threatening messages posted between July 26 and September 15.
Toronto Police announced that Halverson faces multiple charges, including three counts of uttering death threats and three counts of making indecent communication. The police are treating the case as a suspected hate-motivated offence, heightening concerns within the community.
“This is a serious incident that affects the safety and well-being of our community,” said a police spokesperson. Officers are urging anyone with additional information to come forward, encouraging the public to contact them directly at 416-808-3500 or to reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
