Tractor-Trailer Rollover Closes Red Hill Valley Parkway Lanes

URGENT UPDATE: A major traffic disruption is unfolding on the Red Hill Valley Parkway (RHVP) in Hamilton, Ontario, following a serious tractor-trailer rollover early Thursday morning. Authorities report that the northbound lanes of the RHVP are completely closed, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

The incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m., when a transport truck overturned between Greenhill Avenue and King Street E. Police confirmed that the truck spilled three to four large steel coils onto the roadway, creating a significant obstruction in the middle lanes.

As a result, the northbound lanes from Mud Street to King Street E. are blocked, while the southbound lanes remain open. A police spokesperson advised that the closure will last “for several more hours,” significantly affecting traffic flow in the area.

The collision has also caused extensive damage to approximately 90 metres of guardrail separating the northbound and southbound lanes. Debris from the overturned truck and the damaged guardrail are scattered across the northbound road, prompting a lengthy ongoing cleanup operation.

Motorists are facing delays and increased congestion on surrounding roadways as crews work to clear the site and restore normal traffic conditions. Authorities emphasize the importance of avoiding the area and seeking alternative routes until the situation is resolved.
