UPDATE: Transit riders in North Vancouver can expect significant service improvements this fall as TransLink announces enhancements to 53 bus routes starting September 1, 2023. This marks the largest expansion of bus services since 2018, aiming to alleviate overcrowding and improve accessibility for commuters.

In particular, nine routes in North Vancouver will see increased service, providing vital connections for residents and students alike. Post-secondary students traveling to and from Capilano University will benefit from enhanced weekday service on route 245. Additionally, weekday trips on route 44 between the University of British Columbia and West Vancouver will resume, with buses departing every hour from Dundarave towards UBC between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and returning from the university between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

TransLink’s CEO, Kevin Quinn, emphasized the importance of this service expansion, stating, “Adding more service on 53 bus routes will make it easier for people to get to school, work, and everywhere in between.”

George Anderson, parliamentary secretary for transit, echoed this sentiment, declaring, “This expansion is a major win for Metro Vancouver commuters, changing the way Metro Vancouver moves.” The improvements, part of TransLink’s 2025 Investment Plan, aim to unlock opportunities, connect communities, and reduce barriers for residents.

The adjustments will come into effect on Monday, September 1, and are designed to enhance customer convenience and extend service hours. To view the full list of bus route changes, visit translink.ca/servicechanges.

As north Vancouver residents gear up for this much-anticipated transit upgrade, the focus remains on how these changes will impact daily commuting experiences, improve access to jobs, and support local education. Stay tuned for further updates as this developing story unfolds.
