Trump Orders Deadly Strike on ISIS in Nigeria, Targets Terrorists
UPDATE: U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed a targeted military operation against ISIS terrorists in Nigeria, aimed at halting the brutal persecution of Christians in the region. In a statement released on December 7, 2023, Trump declared that under his command, the U.S. military executed a series of “powerful and deadly strikes” against the militant group, responsible for a surge in violence against innocent civilians.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians.” He added that the scale of the violence against Christians is unprecedented, likening it to “levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!”
The president’s announcement follows ongoing concerns regarding the safety of Christians in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country. Trump warned ISIS that continued persecution would result in severe consequences. “I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was,” he stated.
The operation, orchestrated by the Department of War, was characterized by Trump as one of precision and effectiveness. “The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing,” he claimed.
This military action highlights Trump’s focus on the plight of Christians in Nigeria, which he has prioritized in recent months. In November, he urged his Secretary of Defense to prepare for possible military interventions, asserting that the U.S. would respond “guns-a-blazing” to protect vulnerable populations.
Trump concluded his message with a blessing for the military, stating, “May God Bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”
CNN has reached out to the White House for further comments on the operation and its implications. As details emerge, this story continues to develop, with international observers closely monitoring the U.S. response to the escalating violence in Nigeria.
The impact of this military strike resonates beyond the battlefield, underscoring the urgent need for protection of religious minorities facing persecution. Public reactions are likely to vary, as discussions about military intervention in foreign conflicts become increasingly complex.
