Two Arrested as Police Seize $52K in Drugs and Cash in Ontario
BREAKING: Two residents of Bluewater have been arrested following a significant drug bust that resulted in the seizure of nearly $52,000 in illegal substances and property. Authorities from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) confirmed the details of the operation, which unfolded after a traffic stop on November 25, 2023, in the Municipality of Huron East.
The investigation began when officers conducted a routine traffic stop, leading to the arrest of a 39-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man. During the stop, police seized over $5,000 worth of suspected cocaine, along with Canadian currency and various offence-related items, including a vehicle.
Just one day later, on November 26, 2023, police executed a search warrant at a residence on MacTavesh Street in Bayfield. This operation yielded additional offence-related property and more cash, bringing the total estimated value of all seized items to $51,900.
The Huron-Perth OPP Community Street Crimes Unit led the investigation, highlighting their ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. Both suspects have been charged with possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, specifically cocaine. Following their arrest, the individuals were processed and released from custody. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on January 19, 2026.
This incident underscores the pressing issue of drug trafficking in Ontario and the proactive measures being taken by law enforcement to address it. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities.
