Two Colombian Musicians Found Dead Near Mexico City; Authorities Investigate
BREAKING: The bodies of two Colombian musicians, reported missing last week, have been discovered outside Mexico City, shocking the music community and raising urgent concerns about safety. Bayron Sánchez Salazar, known as B-King, and Jorge Luis Herrera, known as DJ Regio Clown, were found on September 17, 2023, in Cocotitlán, according to the Mexico City prosecutor’s office.
The musicians had been last seen on September 16 when they left for a gym in the upscale Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City. Their failure to return raised alarms, leading to a search that ended in tragedy. Authorities reported that a message from a local criminal organization was found alongside their remains, heightening fears of escalating violence in the region.
Relatives of Sánchez Salazar confirmed his identity on Monday, as outrage grew over the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro condemned the killings, stating on X that the “international mafia” has been strengthened by “stupid militaristic and prohibitionist policy called the ‘drug war.’” His statement underscores the broader implications of violence linked to organized crime in Mexico and its impact on Colombia.
The news of their deaths is particularly poignant as Sánchez Salazar was performing in Mexico for the first time. His manager, Juan Camilo Gallego, revealed that both artists had plane tickets to return to Colombia on September 17. Herrera, who had resided in Mexico for several years, was seen as a local figure in the music scene, making their loss even more devastating.
As the investigation continues, Mexico’s federal security apparatus announced that military support will assist civilian investigators in identifying those responsible for this horrific crime. The urgency of the situation has drawn attention to the need for enhanced security measures for artists and the general public in Mexico.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by individuals in the entertainment industry within regions plagued by violence. As the story develops, the music community and concerned citizens await further updates on the investigation and hope for justice for B-King and DJ Regio Clown.
Stay tuned for more details as authorities work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice.
