United Way Receives $50,000 Boost from Local Lottery Players
UPDATE: The United Way Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent has just received a generous boost of $50,000 thanks to local lottery players participating in the recently launched Wintario50 game. This game, introduced by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) to celebrate its 50th anniversary, has created an exciting opportunity for residents of Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent to win while giving back to their communities.
In a unique community contest, players who purchased tickets were not only vying for personal prizes but also had the chance to nominate the United Way for the chance to win a grand prize of $250,000. While the United Way did not clinch the grand prize, the organization expressed gratitude for the significant donation they received from OLG.
“We are committed to giving back to communities across Ontario, and what better way to honour that commitment than by empowering our players to contribute through this contest,” stated Duncan Hannay, OLG’s President and CEO. His remarks highlight the OLG’s dedication to community support, emphasizing the partnership with the United Way as a vital part of their mission.
This donation arrives at a crucial time for local communities, further enabling the United Way to support numerous programs and initiatives aimed at improving lives across the region. The funds will directly impact residents, providing essential services and assistance where it is most needed.
As the Wintario50 game continues to engage players, more opportunities for community support may arise. Residents are encouraged to participate actively, knowing their involvement can lead to both personal rewards and significant contributions to local organizations.
Stay tuned for further updates on how the United Way will utilize this funding to enhance community services. As players continue to support the Wintario50 game, the positive ripple effects for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent will be felt far and wide.
