UPDATE: A suspect is in custody following a violent home invasion in Fort St. John, where one individual was assaulted. Fort St. John RCMP officials have confirmed that this incident, which occurred on December 31, is being treated as an “isolated, targeted incident.”
Authorities responded urgently to calls from the area of Peace River Road and 111th Avenue on Tuesday, reporting an unknown male armed with a gun attempting to break into a residence. Officers quickly established a containment perimeter around the scene, leading to the suspect’s arrest “without incident.”
In addition to the primary suspect, two other individuals were apprehended on-site as part of the ongoing investigation. As of Wednesday morning, the male suspect remains in police custody, with charges anticipated related to firearms and assault, according to Sgt. Dwayne Croll of the Fort St. John RCMP.
A single victim sustained physical injuries during the incident, but fortunately, a loaded firearm seized by police had not been discharged. The authorities are continuing their investigation and holding the two additional suspects while they gather more information.
This alarming incident raises significant concerns about safety in the community. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local authorities.
