Urgent: $35K in Tools Stolen from Guelph Work Van
URGENT UPDATE: Guelph Police have launched an investigation after approximately $35,000 worth of tools were stolen from a work van at a west-end business on Wednesday. The theft occurred near Speedvale Avenue West and Elmira Road North, prompting immediate police action following a call about the incident.
According to police reports, an employee parked the cube van on the property and typically stored all equipment inside. However, just days before the theft, the employee noticed that the lock on the van’s roll-up door had been violently smashed off. A significant number of tools, primarily from the Milwaukee brand, were confirmed missing.
The police estimate that the total value of the stolen tools is around $35,000, a substantial loss for the business involved. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the theft to come forward. Individuals can contact Constable Jessica Belcastro at 519-824-1212, ext. 7287, or via email at [email protected].
This alarming incident highlights the increasing vulnerability of businesses to theft, particularly in the construction and trades sectors. The loss of such valuable tools not only impacts the business financially but also disrupts ongoing projects and livelihoods.
As the investigation unfolds, community members in Guelph are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity. The police are actively working to recover the stolen items and bring those responsible to justice.
