Urgent Arrest: Fugitive Nicholas Singh Captured in Toronto

UPDATE: A major breakthrough in law enforcement as 24-year-old Nicholas Singh, one of Canada’s 25 most-wanted fugitives, has been arrested in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood. The arrest occurred just before noon on Friday, October 20, 2023, after police located Singh in a vehicle near Bathurst and Dupont streets.

Toronto police confirmed that Singh was taken into custody without incident. Authorities also recovered a firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition during the arrest, according to a police news release.

Singh had been “unlawfully at large” since May 2024, after breaching his parole as a federal offender. He was serving a sentence exceeding five years for serious charges, including discharging a prohibited firearm with intent, robbery with a prohibited firearm, and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order. He was listed as number 15 on the Bolo Program’s most-wanted list, which was recently updated by police to encourage public vigilance.

The Bolo Program, standing for “Be on the lookout,” aims to mobilize citizens in assisting law enforcement by providing information that leads to the capture of fugitives. It also offers rewards for useful tips. Singh was known to be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) before his arrest.

Following his capture, Singh faces an additional six charges related to firearms, including possessing a prohibited firearm without a licence and occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm. He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
