URGENT UPDATE: More than 200 children are set to participate in an inclusive and accessible Halloween event in Cambridge this weekend. The highly anticipated “Trunk or Treat” celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Langs on Concession Road.

Organized by city councillors Sheri Roberts and Corey Kimpson, this free event aims to create a safe and welcoming space for children and families of all abilities to enjoy Halloween. Decorated vehicles will line the Langs parking lot, allowing children to collect treats in a barrier-free environment.

Organizers are emphasizing accessibility by incorporating sensory-friendly elements along the route, and volunteers will be present to assist participants. This year, the event will also feature a “Switch Witch,” offering non-food treats and fidget toys for children with dietary restrictions or those preferring alternatives to candy.

Councillor Kimpson stressed the importance of inclusivity, stating,

“Halloween should be a fun and magical time for every child.”

Her colleague, Councillor Roberts, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the community’s commitment to inclusion, saying,

“This event is about community spirit and making sure no child is left out of the fun.”

Langs is providing its venue and making accessible washroom facilities available to families during the event, ensuring a comfortable experience for all attendees.

As excitement builds for this inclusive celebration, families are encouraged to participate and enjoy a Halloween experience that prioritizes accessibility and community engagement. Don’t miss out on this remarkable opportunity for every child to experience the joy of Halloween!
