BREAKING: A serious two-vehicle crash on the Lasalle Extension in Greater Sudbury has left one person hospitalized this afternoon. The incident, which involved a silver BMW and a small commercial vehicle, occurred just west of Frood Road shortly before 1:30 PM on November 6.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a high-speed collision. According to Greater Sudbury Deputy Fire Chief Jesse Oshell, the BMW suffered severe damage, losing its entire roof in the crash. “Fire services were called to a high-speed vehicle collision on the Lasalle extension close to Elm Street this afternoon,” Oshell stated during an interview with CTV News.

Although both drivers escaped with only minor injuries, one individual was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The second vehicle involved in the crash, described as a small commercial truck with a flatbed, was spotted among the wreckage, blocking the westbound lane.

Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles was seen speeding prior to the crash, raising concerns about road safety. The Greater Sudbury Police Service is actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.

This crash comes just days after a tragic incident in Chelmsford, where a 27-year-old male driver was killed after performing doughnuts in an open field, also injuring his female passenger. Additionally, a 21-year-old driver from Timmins was charged with impaired and dangerous driving following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 144 this past Saturday.

As investigations continue, authorities urge drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits to prevent further accidents. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.
