UPDATE: A 31-year-old man faces multiple charges after an alarming incident where he reversed into a police cruiser while attempting to evade arrest. The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) reported the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Ottawa Street North and Weber Street East.

Officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle and discovered the man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a running car, surrounded by open alcohol containers. Upon police arrival, he attempted to flee, reversing into a cruiser and driving over a curb before being apprehended. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the chaotic scene.

The man is charged with impaired driving, dangerous operation of a vehicle, assault with a weapon, and assaulting a peace officer with intent to resist arrest. Additionally, he faces several charges under the Highway Traffic Act and the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
