Urgent Investigation Launched After Man Shot by RCMP in B.C.

BREAKING: A man has been shot and killed during a police confrontation in Sunshine Coast, British Columbia. The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is urgently investigating the incident that unfolded early Saturday morning, November 2, 2025.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., authorities received a distress call regarding a man in crisis armed with weapons in the Porpoise Bay area, near Sechelt. Upon locating the individual, police learned he had entered a residence where four other people, including children, were present.

The situation escalated rapidly as officers entered the home before 4:30 a.m.. They successfully evacuated three individuals but faced a critical situation when shots were fired around 10:30 a.m. The man sustained serious injuries from gunfire and was immediately transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP confirmed that the man was wielding an “edged weapon” during the confrontation. Fortunately, the other individual who remained inside the home was not injured. The IIO is actively appealing for witnesses to come forward as part of their investigation.
