Urgent: Man Killed in Shooting Near Metrotown; Vehicle Found Burning

UPDATE: A man is dead following a shooting near Metropolis at Metrotown in Burnaby on the evening of October 25, 2023. Burnaby RCMP responded to urgent reports of shots fired in the vicinity of McKay Avenue and Kingsborough Street at approximately 6:30 PM.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite immediate life-saving attempts, authorities confirmed that the man did not survive.

In a troubling twist, police later discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames about a three-minute drive away on Kingsway and Inman Avenue. Burnaby RCMP has advised the public to steer clear of the locations as the investigation unfolds.

“While the investigation is still in its early stages, it’s believed the shooting may have been a targeted incident,” officials stated. They emphasized that there is no further risk to the community as officers work diligently to gather evidence.
