The North Bay Police Service deployed its Emergency Response Team to an apartment building on Rose Avenue shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. Officials reported that by 5:30 p.m., the area was cleared, and residents were safely returning to their homes.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as officers arrived at the 500 block of Rose Avenue. One resident reported hearing “a loud bang” prior to the police response. “City police with guns drawn near Rose Street and Algonquin,” said another local. Eyewitness cellphone footage shared with CTV News captured the unfolding incident, heightening community concern.
According to Jennifer Cross, a communications coordinator with the North Bay Police Service, “There is no ongoing risk to public safety. No injuries have been reported.” The police had earlier confirmed an active investigation in the area and urged community members to avoid the vicinity.
