Urgent Search for Suspects Posing as Police in Portage Break-In
URGENT UPDATE: The Manitoba RCMP is actively searching for two suspects who impersonated police officers during a failed break-and-enter in Portage la Prairie on August 8. This alarming incident occurred around 8:00 PM at a residence on Royal Road, raising significant concerns among local residents.
According to police reports, the suspects, both men, approached the home claiming to be RCMP officers and requested that the occupants open the door. When the residents refused, the duo attempted to force their way inside, resulting in damage to a door and a window on the porch. After failing to gain entry, they fled the scene in a white sedan.
Authorities have identified one of the suspects as Christian Meeches, a 27-year-old from Long Plain First Nation. A warrant for his arrest has been issued, and the RCMP is urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward. The second suspect remains unidentified but was noted to be wearing a white hoodie during the attempted break-in.
This incident has left residents shaken, highlighting the growing concern over safety in the community.
