Urgent Search Underway for Missing Boater in Egmont Bay, P.E.I.

UPDATE: An urgent search is currently underway for a possible missing boater in Egmont Bay, P.E.I. The Prince District RCMP received reports of a dory observed offshore from Enman Shore Road on Saturday evening. A concerned witness noted that the boat remained stationary for several hours as daylight faded, which raised alarms.

As authorities rushed to the scene, the witness reported seeing distress flares in the same area, triggering an immediate response from local emergency services. The Tyne Valley Fire Department and the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Centre are actively assisting in the search operations, which have extended into Sunday.

Despite extensive land-based searches, no trace of the boater has been found thus far. The RCMP stated, “No truck or trailer suitable for transporting this type of vessel has been located,” highlighting the mystery surrounding the incident.

Authorities confirmed that as of now, neither the Prince Edward Island RCMP nor the New Brunswick RCMP have received any reports of missing persons linked to this situation.
