UPDATE: An early-morning shooting in Surrey’s Newton neighbourhood is under urgent investigation by the Surrey Police Service (SPS). Reports indicate that gunfire erupted just before 1 a.m. on October 19, 2023, near the intersection of King George Boulevard and 81 Avenue.

Authorities confirm that the shooting is likely unrelated to the ongoing extortion incidents plaguing the city. Upon arrival, police found a business damaged by gunshots. Initial investigations reveal that a suspect fired at individuals inside a vehicle parked in front of the business before fleeing the scene.
