URGENT UPDATE: A snowfall warning by Environment Canada is currently in effect for the London area, with significant snowfall continuing throughout the region. Following a substantial accumulation of snow Saturday night, an additional 5 cm is expected this morning, along with possible rain showers around midday.

Travelers should prepare for challenging conditions as snowfall is projected to intensify this evening, reaching as much as 15 cm by nightfall. According to Environment Canada, the combination of heavy snow and strong winds will significantly reduce visibility, posing hazards for motorists and pedestrians alike.

Forecasts indicate that the winter weather is far from over. Monday may bring more snow, with a 40 percent chance of flurries in the morning. This week is set to be snowy, with further accumulations expected on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Temperatures are set to drop as the week progresses. The high today will be around 2°C, but it will fall to -2°C on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Thursday expected to hit a chilling -5°C.

Here’s the latest forecast for Sunday:
– Rain and flurries will taper off early this afternoon, transitioning to cloudy skies with a 60 percent chance of flurries later on.
– Winds will be strong, blowing from the southwest at 40 km/h, gusting to 60 km/h.

As night falls, flurries are expected to continue, and a risk of snow squalls will pose additional dangers. Local amounts could reach between 10 to 15 cm by late evening. Winds will shift to the northwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h by midnight, leading to a low of -4°C and a wind chill near -8°C.

Residents are urged to stay updated on the weather conditions as the week unfolds. Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel during peak snowfall and ensuring safety precautions are in place.
