Urgent Update: CBSA Kiosk Outage Resolved, Delays Persist at Airports

UPDATE: The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has resolved a significant outage affecting its primary inspection kiosks, which caused extensive delays at customs in multiple airports across Canada. Passengers are still advised to expect ongoing delays as the system stabilizes.
In the early hours of September 29, 2025, CBSA confirmed via social media that the kiosk outage has been addressed. However, travelers should remain vigilant, as some customs lines may still be longer than usual in the aftermath of the disruption.
Reports surfaced on social media from frustrated passengers, including one individual on a WestJet flight, who described being stuck on the tarmac for over an hour after landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport. A response from WestJet indicated that customs operations were at full capacity due to the outage, causing a temporary halt in deplaning until space became available.
Toronto Pearson Airport also alerted travelers to the extended wait times at customs, particularly at Terminals 1 and 3, due to the previous service interruption. In addition to Toronto, both Montreal Trudeau International Airport and Calgary International Airport reported similar disruptions, affecting countless travelers throughout the day.
Minister of Transport Steven MacKinnon stated that the government is monitoring the situation closely. He urged all travelers to check their flight status on the airline’s website before heading to the airport to avoid further inconveniences.
As the situation unfolds, travelers are encouraged to remain patient and to stay updated through official airport and airline communications. The CBSA’s swift resolution of the kiosk outage is a relief, but the residual impact on passenger flow may linger for some time.
