UPDATE: Frustration mounts as the recall petition for Lethbridge-East MLA Nathan Neudorf faces significant delays, leaving supporters in the dark. Over three weeks have passed since the petition was officially launched by Ryan Tanner on November 25, yet many seeking to sign the document report confusion and a lack of communication.

Local activist Sheila King, involved with the Alberta Funds Public Schools initiative, expressed concerns about the petition’s management. “A group was well-prepared to take this petition on but was turned down due to a late application,” she stated. As of now, Tanner has not responded to multiple inquiries from those eager to canvass or support the recall effort.

Members of the Lethbridge Raging Grannies, including Barb Phillips, voiced their frustration after finally securing a meeting with a man named Mike, who they claim had little knowledge about the recall process. “We are still asking the same questions. Who is Ryan Tanner? Who is Mike? What’s going on?” Phillips lamented.

The absence of clarity raises serious concerns over the petition’s legitimacy. Numerous attempts to reach Tanner by CTV News have gone unanswered, fueling speculation that the recall initiative may have been compromised or mismanaged.

Accusations are surfacing that Tanner may have initiated the petition to obstruct legitimate efforts to recall Neudorf, who has denied any connection to Tanner or the campaign. “I have no relationship to Ryan Tanner, nor am I involved in my own recall campaign,” Neudorf stated.

Political analyst Trevor Harrison suggested that the ongoing uncertainty could backfire on Neudorf, saying, “Some people will seek someone to blame for this.” He emphasized that Tanner’s visibility and effort in clarifying the situation could significantly impact public perception.

As the clock ticks, supporters are reminded that the deadline to submit signatures to Elections Alberta is set for February 23, 2024. A total of 13,207 signatures is required for the petition to succeed.

The situation remains fluid, with many hoping for immediate answers from Tanner and clearer communication from those involved. As this story develops, stay tuned for updates on this urgent political matter that could reshape the future for MLA Nathan Neudorf.
