Urgent Update: Turn Back Clocks One Hour This Sunday, Nov. 2
UPDATE: Canadians are reminded to turn back their clocks by one hour at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2023, marking the end of Daylight Saving Time (DST). This change not only grants an extra hour of sleep but also signals the onset of shorter days with earlier sunrises and quicker sunsets.
As the clocks roll back, the daylight hours will diminish, creating a notable shift in daily routines. This year’s time change occurs one day earlier than in 2023, when the clocks went back on November 3. Looking ahead, the clocks will change even earlier in 2026, on November 1.
The practice of DST has been in effect across Canada since 1908, but its future is increasingly debated. In the last provincial election, both the Progressive Conservative and Liberal parties expressed their readiness to abolish the biannual clock change, while the NDP indicated it would consider the issue further.
In a related development, discussions about the future of DST are gaining momentum in the United States. U.S. President Donald Trump made headlines earlier this year, urging Congress to eliminate the clock change and adopt permanent DST, reflecting a growing sentiment on both sides of the border.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare for the shift this Sunday. As many Canadians adjust their schedules, the impact of these time changes can be felt in daily life, affecting everything from sleep patterns to evening activities.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as discussions around the future of Daylight Saving Time continue to unfold.
