Urgent Vote on Edgewater Commercial Space Service Set for Nov. 22
UPDATE: A crucial public meeting about the proposed Edgewater Commercial Space Service took place last night at Edgewater Community Hall, drawing nearly 70 attendees. Residents gathered to gain vital information ahead of the upcoming vote on November 22, 2023.
Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) Electoral Area G Director, Roberta Schnider, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout, stating, “I was pleased to see how many residents took time to join us for this important meeting as we want to ensure that as much information is in the hands of the voters as possible.” She emphasized the significance of voter participation during both advance voting on November 12 and general voting days.
During the meeting, detailed presentations covered essential topics including projected costs, taxation impacts, and the elector assent process. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with presenters during a Q&A session, ensuring their concerns were addressed.
Schnider encourages those who could not attend to utilize the resources available on the project page, stating, “For anyone that was unable to attend the meeting in person, there are several resources available on the project page, and the RDEK staff are available to answer questions about all aspects of the proposed service.”
She highlighted the importance of every voter’s voice, urging, “We hope to see a strong turnout for this vote. For those who are unsure if they will participate, your voice matters, be heard.”
In addition to the information packages sent to all property owners, the slides from the meeting will be posted on the project page by the end of this week. For more details, residents can visit engage.rdek.bc.ca/edgewater.
With just days remaining before the advance voting period, the urgency for informed participation in this decision is paramount. Residents are reminded to make their voices heard in shaping the future of Edgewater.
