UPDATE: A significant water outage is set to affect numerous residents in Greater Vernon on September 16, 2023. The outage is due to planned upgrades in the area and will impact customers on MacDonald Rd (odd numbers only), Schram Road, Collision Road, Rimer Rd (from 5808 to 6402), Herry Road (even numbers only), Holbrook Road, Sanford Road, Carlton Road, and Pleasant Valley Rd (specifically 6851 and 6931).

The water interruption will commence at 8 a.m. and is expected to last until 7 p.m. During this time, residents will face a precautionary boil water notice. Once the water supply resumes, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) will collaborate with Interior Health to ensure safety before drinking water is deemed safe.

Residents in the affected areas may experience reduced water pressure, discolored water, and presence of air in their water lines. To alleviate these issues, it is advised to run an outside cold water tap until the water clears.

The RDNO has emphasized the importance of boiling water for at least one minute when preparing food, drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, and while brushing teeth during the boil water notice.

As of now, the RDNO confirms that the level of service and treatment remains maintained, despite the necessary outage for upgrades. Residents are encouraged to keep informed about the status of the boil water notice, which will be rescinded once water quality is confirmed safe. Updates will be posted on the RDNO website and sent to email subscribers.

For questions or further assistance, residents can contact the RDNO utilities department at 250-550-3700.

This urgent update highlights the critical nature of the situation for the Greater Vernon community. Residents are advised to prepare accordingly and stay tuned for further announcements.
