URGENT UPDATE: A 47-year-old woman has been charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences following a significant police operation in Church Point, Nova Scotia. The arrest took place after authorities executed search warrants at two locations on January 24, 2024, as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Meteghan RCMP Detachment, alongside the RCMP Emergency Response Team and the Southwest Nova Street Crime Enforcement Unit, targeted residences on Patrice Road and Oakridge Road. At the Patrice Road property, officers apprehended Amanda Althea Smith and seized a substantial quantity of cocaine, a digital scale, four firearms, ammunition, and various stolen items.

This operation underscores a growing crackdown on drug-related crimes in the region, raising concerns about community safety and the increasing prevalence of weapons in illegal drug trafficking.

“Our priority is to ensure the safety of our communities and to address these serious offences head-on,” said an RCMP spokesperson.

Smith has been released under strict conditions and is scheduled to appear in Digby provincial court on January 26, 2026. This case highlights the urgent need for law enforcement in maintaining order and safety as drug-related activities continue to pose threats to communities across Nova Scotia.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities. This situation is still developing, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
