Victorian Kitchen Exhibit Opens Tomorrow at Glanmore Historic Site
URGENT UPDATE: The City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site is set to unveil its highly anticipated Victorian Kitchen exhibit tomorrow, October 24, 2023. This immersive experience will transport visitors back to the 1880s, showcasing the original kitchen space and revealing the daily lives of those who worked within the historic home.
The exhibit, located on the lower level of Glanmore, invites guests to engage with interactive displays that highlight the household technologies and the roles of servants during the Victorian era. This innovative project is the result of extensive research led by Dave Cox, Museum Technician, and Danielle McMahon-Jones, Exhibition and Outreach Coordinator.
In a statement,
“While not a restoration, the exhibit space invites you to walk through history and experience the Victorian lifestyle firsthand,”
said McMahon-Jones. This unique approach aims to educate and engage visitors, offering a glimpse into the complex dynamics of a Victorian household.
As the opening approaches, anticipation is building within the community. This exhibit not only enriches the cultural landscape of Belleville but also serves as a vital educational resource for residents and tourists alike. The Victorian Kitchen exhibit at Glanmore is poised to become a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in history, culture, or the evolution of household life.
