UPDATE: The Wallin sisters, Anika and Nadia Wallin, just showcased their skills at the Nordiq Canada 2026 Olympic Winter Games Trials held from December 13-16 at the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club in Vernon, British Columbia. Competing against Canada’s elite cross-country skiers, they fought hard for coveted spots on Team Canada for the upcoming Milan 2026 Winter Olympics.

The trials were relocated to Vernon due to insufficient snow conditions at the originally planned venue in Prince George. This change ensured that athletes had access to the challenging conditions required for Olympic qualification. The Wallin sisters, representing the Williams Lake Cross Country Ski Club, faced fierce competition, with many opponents being significantly older and more experienced.

In the 10 km Classic event, Anika finished in 19th place while Nadia secured an impressive 29th place. The younger sister, Nadia, excelled in the 10 km Free event, achieving 10th place, while Anika placed 16th. In the sprint races on the final day, Anika recorded a commendable 10th place, and Nadia finished in 22nd place.

While still a high school student at Lake City Secondary School, Nadia continues to train locally, showcasing her potential among top-tier athletes. Anika, now studying at the University of Calgary and training with the Alberta World Cup Academy, returned home over the holidays to maintain her training regimen at Bull Mountain and nearby Fort St. James and Vanderhoof, balancing her academic pursuits with her passion for skiing.

The Wallin sisters’ performance at these trials is a significant milestone in their athletic careers, marking their determination and skill on a national stage. As they gear up for future competitions, their journey is inspiring young athletes across Canada. Fans and followers are encouraged to support these rising stars as they continue to push the boundaries of their sport.

Stay tuned for further updates on their progress as they aim for Olympic glory in 2026.
