Waskesiu Lakeside Music Festival Marks 10th Anniversary with Record Crowds

URGENT UPDATE: Thousands of attendees are flocking to Waskesiu this weekend as the Lakeside Music Festival celebrates its extraordinary 10th anniversary. The festival, which started in 2015, has quickly become the largest free family event of the summer in Waskesiu, with an added bonus this year: free admission to Prince Albert National Park.
Officials confirm that excitement is palpable as festival-goers enjoy a packed schedule featuring dozens of bands and artists. Headlining the event are popular acts like Bombargo, Jay Semko, JJ Lavalee, and Cupid’s Heart. Throughout the festival, DJ Anchor from Saskatoon has been keeping the atmosphere lively during intermissions.
Festival committee member Kris Kershaw, who has been involved with the festival since its inception, stated, “It’s exciting to see how much the event has grown. We’re trying to expand it even further.” This year’s festival is not just about music; Sunday’s lineup includes a classic car show hosted by the Classic Cruisers Car Club and a special Indigenous talent showcase from noon until 4 p.m.
Local band East Side of Second expressed their enthusiasm, with lead singer Aiden Edwards saying, “It’s super exciting and an honor to be playing with tons of talented musicians, especially local stars Bombargo.” He added, “Finishing our summer tour at such a great festival means a lot, and it’s wonderful to see local fans and family out here.”
Adding to the thrill, the festival features a highly anticipated 50/50 raffle, which as of Sunday at 11 a.m., has reached an impressive jackpot of $12,302. The community is buzzing with anticipation as attendees hope to win big while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
As the festival continues to unfold, the sense of community and celebration is evident. This weekend is not just a gathering of music lovers; it’s a testament to the cultural spirit of Waskesiu and the joy of free family fun.
