West Vancouver Entrepreneurs Launch Unique Canned Espresso Martini
BREAKING: Two innovative entrepreneurs from West Vancouver have just launched a game-changing product in BC Liquor Stores: the 1983 Creamy Espresso Martini. This unique canned cocktail, now available as of August 4, 2023, features real cream liqueur and promises a bar-quality experience without any mixing required. Retailing at $6.99 per 250-milliliter can and boasting a robust 15% alcohol by volume, it’s set to make waves among cocktail enthusiasts.
According to co-creator Gabrielle Mustapich, “I know 70% of Canadians drink their coffee with milk or cream in it. So I figure, why not their coffee cocktail?” This exciting new offering is positioned to attract consumers looking for a ready-to-drink espresso martini option that delivers both quality and convenience.
The journey of Mustapich and her business partner, Sheereen Price, began in 2019 with a boozy frozen treat concept. However, the duo quickly pivoted to canned cocktails after encountering regulatory challenges in Canada. “We thought: Let’s do a canned cocktail, but we want to be unique,” Mustapich emphasized. Their passion for espresso martinis led them to develop a product that combines the beloved cocktail with the richness of cream.
After months of rigorous testing with top food scientists, the pair successfully created a shelf-stable beverage that meets their high standards for ingredient quality and taste. The product’s name, 1983, pays homage to the year the espresso martini was invented by renowned bartender Dick Bradsell, adding a nostalgic touch to the brand’s identity.
Since its debut, the 1983 Creamy Espresso Martini has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from consumers, particularly during its initial public launch at the Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver. Mustapich stated, “Everyone we talked to in stores is loving it,” highlighting the excitement surrounding this local product.
While the current launch is exclusive to British Columbia, the entrepreneurs are already planning to expand into Alberta and Ontario by September, aiming to reach a broader audience. The duo hopes that Canadian consumers will embrace their locally crafted cocktail as something truly unique.
As interest in convenience-driven cocktails surges, Mustapich and Price are poised to make significant strides in the canned cocktail market. “Ultimately, this is our home, and this is where we wanted to start from the get-go,” Mustapich affirmed, expressing their commitment to Canadian consumers.
With the launch of the 1983 Creamy Espresso Martini, West Vancouver’s entrepreneurial spirit shines bright, offering a refreshing and innovative addition to the cocktail scene. Stay tuned for more updates as this promising product gains traction across Canada!
