UPDATE: The White Rock Whalers are making headlines as they dominate the Pacific Junior Hockey League, boasting an impressive record of 15 wins out of 16 games this season. With 30 points in the Harold Brittain Conference, the Whalers are leading the standings as of November 2023.

Whalers managing partner Chris McNally praised the players and community support during a recent interview. “We’ve got an incredible group of kids and coaching staff that have come together in a really cool way,” McNally stated. He emphasized the players’ commitment to their game plan and noted their relentless spirit. “They play for each other so hard,” he added, highlighting the strong camaraderie among the team.

This season marks a significant shift for the Whalers, with a new coaching staff dedicated to enhancing local engagement. Head coach David Rutherford and associate coach Anthony Ast, both White Rock residents, have built a youthful and talented roster. “Our new coaching staff was able to recruit local kids to build on what was established here already, and that’s where the success has come from,” McNally explained.

The Whalers are not just focused on winning; their mission extends to creating a vibrant community connection. McNally expressed his desire for all teams in the league to thrive, stating, “I want these kids to have the best experience they can, and I want the communities to engage with us.” The team has seen a surge in local support, with enthusiastic crowds bringing energy to their games.

The next opportunity to see the Whalers in action is on Saturday, November 8, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. at White Rock’s Centennial Arena, where they will face the Abbotsford Pilots. Fans are encouraged to attend and witness the excitement firsthand.
