UPDATE: Windstar Cruises is set to revolutionize travel in Tahiti by launching its iconic sailing yacht, Wind Star, in March 2027. This exciting announcement was made today as the company confirms it will operate year-round alongside the Star Breeze, significantly enhancing options for travelers in French Polynesia.

This unprecedented deployment marks Windstar’s most expansive presence in the South Pacific, offering more departure dates and a wider variety of itineraries than ever. Guests will now have the chance to explore the breathtaking beauty of Tahiti with twice the options to chase sunsets and swim with rays.

“Tahiti is part of our DNA, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring our sailing yacht back to these legendary waters,” said Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises. He emphasized the unparalleled flexibility and choice for guests, stating, “It’s all Windstar: laid-back luxury, local flavor, and a front-row seat to the most beautiful place on earth.”

Windstar will provide the largest number of cruise departures in Tahiti, featuring two distinct yachts. The Wind Star, a classic four-masted sailing yacht accommodating only 148 guests, will offer the 7-night “Dreams of Tahiti” itinerary with weekly Monday departures. Notably, every voyage includes a visit to Raiatea, a sacred island and ancestral homeland of the Māori people, a feature not available on competing itineraries.

The Star Breeze, accommodating 312 guests, will embark on longer voyages to remote destinations like the Tuamotus, Marquesas, Fiji, and the Cook Islands. These can be combined into Star Collector Voyages lasting up to 21 days, providing deeper cultural immersion and extensive South Pacific exploration.

New Features for 2027 include:

– The most Tahiti cruise departures of any line with both yachts sailing full-time in the region.
– An “Early Goodbye” disembarkation option, allowing guests to arrive in Papeete at 8 PM the day before their cruise, facilitating evening flight connections to LAX.
– Simplified cruise + hotel packages that make it easier than ever to stay in an overwater bungalow, with flexible flight options available.
– Innovative AquaBanas at the yacht’s marina platform—private floating lounges with sunshades and tables for a resort-like experience at sea.

Windstar also offers immersive experiences, including exclusive events like the Polynesian Feast + Fire. Guests can enjoy Tahitian fire dancing, live music, and island cuisine under the stars. Onboard, a Cultural Ambassador will teach traditional crafts, local culinary favorites, and the Tahitian language.

Additionally, guests will embark on guided shore excursions revealing the islands’ secrets—like snorkeling through coral gardens and discovering how Tahitian vanilla is cultivated.

Need to Know: An Early Booking Offer allows travelers to reserve by October 31, 2025, to secure the best fares and suite selections, along with up to $200 in onboard credit. Travelers can also enjoy Windstar’s All-In package, which includes Wi-Fi, gratuities, and select beverages. Moreover, guests can save an additional 5% when paying in full at the time of booking, combinable with the Early Booking Offer.
