URGENT UPDATE: The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without their leading receiver, Nic Demski, for Friday’s crucial week 20 matchup against the West Division-leading Saskatchewan Roughriders. Demski has been ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury during the second quarter of last week’s loss to the Edmonton Elks, and he did not participate in practices this week.

Demski, 31, has been a standout for the Bombers this season, playing in all 16 games and leading the team with 67 receptions, 1,001 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns. His absence is a significant blow, especially as the Bombers, currently 8-8, fight for playoff positioning.

In Demski’s place, rookie Joey Corcoran is expected to step into the starting lineup. The 24-year-old has already made his mark this season with 10 catches for 88 yards across 16 appearances, but this will be just his second career start in the CFL, following a debut against the Toronto Argonauts earlier this season.

Adding to the uncertainty, fellow receiver Dillon Mitchell missed Wednesday’s practice, but the team reports his absence is not injury-related, suggesting he will still play on Friday. Meanwhile, returner Trey Vaval is listed as questionable after sustaining an ankle injury; however, he has fully participated in practices this week.

Defensive back Michael Griffin is also doubtful for the game after being limited in practice. The Bombers will need all hands on deck as they host the Riders at Princess Auto Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for just after 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

The Bombers’ upcoming game is critical in their quest to secure a playoff spot, making the stakes higher than ever. Fans will be watching closely to see how the team adapts without their top receiver. Stay tuned for more updates as this developing story unfolds.
