											UPDATE: In a nail-biting showdown on September 19, 2023, the York Dukes (13-2, 1-1) pulled off a dramatic comeback against Glenbard West, winning the match 22-25, 25-20, 26-24 in the West Suburban Silver conference. This thrilling victory showcases York’s resilience and determination, solidifying their status as one of the league’s top contenders.
The match, which captivated fans with its intensity, saw York rally from a first-set loss to secure the win. Both teams entered the match with high expectations, making this result particularly significant for their standings.
In other action, Glenbard South triumphed over Fenton with a decisive 25-18, 25-14 victory. Key players included Callie Hardtke, who delivered an impressive performance with nine kills and three digs, alongside Alyna Krabec, who contributed 16 assists and nine digs, helping the Raiders improve to 9-6, 1-1.
Timothy Christian also shone brightly, defeating Chicago Christian 25-23, 25-8. Bella Potempa led the charge with 11 kills and four digs, supporting the Trojans’ strong record of 14-2, 1-0.
Meanwhile, Benet dominated Carmel, securing their win with a score of 25-7, 25-11. Ellie Stiernagle was a standout with 24 assists, while Brooklynne Brass contributed seven kills, bringing Benet’s record to 11-1, 2-0.
In a closely contested battle, St. Francis edged St. Ignatius 25-22, 18-25, 25-23, with Colleen Brennan delivering nine kills. The Spartans now hold a record of 12-3, 2-0 in the GCAC.
The excitement didn’t stop there. In boys’ golf, Willowbrook secured a win against Hinsdale South with a score of 150 to 160, highlighted by Jonnie Gosmire and Bobby Biggs, who both shot 37.
Adding to the day’s successes, Willowbrook’s cross-country team captured first place at the Leyden Quad hosted at Center Point Park, with Mariangela Popoca finishing first in 19:29.40 over three miles.
