Zelestra Launches Major Solar Projects in Texas: 441 MWdc Capacity
BREAKING: Zelestra has officially commenced construction on its two largest solar projects in the U.S., the 253 MWdc Echols Grove and 188 MWdc Cedar Range, both located in Texas. This major development is set to significantly boost the renewable energy landscape, with both projects expected to be fully operational by the end of 2027.
The construction efforts are being spearheaded by Zelestra, with McCarthy Building Companies appointed as the lead EPC contractor. These projects are pivotal in Zelestra’s partnership with Meta, which aims to add a total of 1.2 GW of clean energy capacity across multiple sites.
Phil North, Zelestra’s US CEO, emphasized the importance of these projects, stating, “Echols Grove and Cedar Range are two major projects in our partnership with Meta, which will see 1.2 GW of new clean energy capacity online in the U.S. soon.” The partnership underscores a commitment to generating new clean energy and aligning operations with 100% renewable energy sources.
Construction on both solar plants kicked off in January 2026 and is projected to create more than 400 local jobs, injecting about $20 million into the local economy. A total of 704,000 bifacial solar modules will be installed across 2,400 acres, marking a significant investment in Texas communities.
Dhruv Patel, President of McCarthy’s Renewable Energy group, noted, “Breaking ground on the Echols Grove and Cedar Range solar facilities represents more than new energy infrastructure — it’s a long-term investment in Texas communities.” He added that the projects will prioritize safety and workforce development, creating vital opportunities for local contractors and suppliers.
Zelestra continues to strengthen its position in the U.S. renewable energy sector with innovative and multi-technology solutions tailored for major corporate partners like Meta. The company’s portfolio includes approximately 15 GW of renewable energy projects across key markets. BloombergNEF recently ranked Zelestra among the top 10 sellers of power purchase agreements (PPAs) to corporate customers in the U.S.
With the initiation of these significant solar projects, Zelestra not only reinforces its commitment to sustainability but also addresses the urgent need for clean energy solutions in Texas and beyond. The global shift towards renewable energy sources remains critical, and these projects are a step forward in meeting that demand.
Stay tuned for further updates on the progress of the Echols Grove and Cedar Range solar projects as they move towards completion. These developments are crucial in shaping a sustainable future and could serve as a model for similar initiatives across the nation.
