Ice Climbing Festival Set to Thrill Adventurers in Sault Ste. Marie
A new outdoor adventure event, the Ice Fest SSM, will take place from February 27 to March 1, 2024, in the scenic areas east and north of Sault Ste. Marie. This festival will feature ice climbing activities at two prime locations: the Gros Cap Bluffs and the Searchmont Ice Wall.
Organized by the Alpine Club of Canada, Sault Ste. Marie chapter, the festival aims to attract both seasoned climbers and newcomers eager to experience the thrill of ice climbing. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in guided climbing sessions, skill workshops, and social events designed to foster community among outdoor enthusiasts.
The event kicks off with a lively snowpants party hosted by OutSpoken Brewing on February 27. This gathering will provide a relaxed atmosphere for attendees to connect and gear up for the climbing activities that follow. On February 28, a social event at the Tap Room will give participants another chance to mingle and share their experiences.
Passes for the festival are priced at $50, which grants access to all climbing activities, workshops, and social events throughout the festival. Passes can be purchased online at icefestssm.ca.
The Ice Fest SSM promises to be an exhilarating weekend for adventurers and families alike, highlighting the natural beauty of the region while promoting outdoor sports. Whether you are an experienced climber or looking to try something new, this festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the winter landscape in a fun and supportive environment.
