Police Seek Suspect in Whitby Restaurant Break-In Incident
Authorities are actively searching for an unidentified man involved in a break-and-enter incident at a restaurant in Whitby, Ontario. The suspect allegedly attempted to steal alcohol from Los Cabos Cantina and Grill during the early hours of August 11, 2023. Investigators have released a security camera image of the individual, hoping someone in the community can provide information leading to his identification.
Details of the Incident
According to Durham Regional Police, the suspect entered the restaurant located at 1009 Dundas St. E. just after 1:30 a.m. on that date. The man reportedly smashed a window to gain access to the premises, which triggered immediate concerns for the safety of the establishment.
Once inside, he attempted to pry open a refrigerator containing various alcoholic beverages. Police noted that the suspect also made an effort to access the management office. His attempts were cut short when the security alarm was activated, prompting him to flee the scene.
Suspect Description and Call for Information
The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 45 and 55 years, with a medium build and long, dark hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and dark pants. The release of the security image aims to encourage anyone who may recognize him to come forward.
Authorities are urging individuals with cellphone, dashcam, or surveillance footage, or anyone with additional information regarding this incident, to contact police at 1-888-579-1520, Ext. 5858. Alternatively, tips can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
