Scottish Brothers Set New Record for Unsupported Pacific Row

Three Scottish brothers, Jamie, Ewan, and Lachlan Maclean, have achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new world record for rowing unsupported across the Pacific Ocean. Completing the journey in an impressive **139 days**, they arrived in **Cairns, Australia**, on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in adventure sports.
The trio embarked on their grueling journey from **Peru**, covering over **9,000 miles** without any external assistance. Their successful crossing made them the first team to complete this full route from South America to Australia, showcasing their resilience and determination.
Throughout their expedition, the Macleans faced numerous challenges, including fierce storms, seasickness, and injuries. One of the most harrowing moments occurred when **Lachlan** was thrown overboard during rough weather, a near-disaster that underscored the dangers they faced at sea. Despite these obstacles, the brothers maintained their focus on their goal.
Not only did the Macleans aim to conquer the ocean, but they also sought to raise funds for vital clean water projects. They successfully gathered over **£700,000** (approximately **$945,690**) toward their target of **£1 million** (about **$1,350,450**). Their fundraising efforts are intended to assist **40,000** individuals in **Madagascar**, highlighting their commitment to making a positive impact beyond their adventure.
Upon their arrival in Cairns, they were greeted by family, supporters, and fans who celebrated their achievement. The Macleans expressed that the experience granted them a profound new perspective on life, emphasizing the personal growth that often accompanies such extreme challenges.
With their record-setting row complete, the brothers plan to continue their fundraising efforts, eager to extend their support for clean water initiatives. Their journey has not only made history but also inspired many to consider the importance of access to clean water in communities around the globe.
